Mesa After-School Kids Sing Christmas Carols

Twenty-two local community elementary school kids are part of Mesa’s After-school program. During the past month, they have been learning some of the classic Christmas songs, such as Silent Night, Joy to the World, and Jingle Bells. Many of these children have not had the opportunity to really learn a lot of these traditional Christmas carols and songs. On December 19, they were invited to demonstrate a little of what they had practiced by singing these songs (and several more) with the residents at our next-door neighbor Silvercrest. They were led by Major Candi and accompanied by Steve (Advisory Board member). The seniors were having a Christmas party and we were pleased to be able to spend a little time with them by singing these special songs and giving Christmas gifts from the Mesa Citadel Corps to these seniors. Included in the gifts are a calendar, a War Cry magazine, and some sugar free chocolate. We are so thankful for the blessing of celebrating this Christmas season with young and old alike. This experience is very memorable for seniors as they were able to reminisce about past Christmas memories and for the children to catch a glimpse of the true meaning of Christmas – celebrating and expressing Jesus’ love to others.
