Angel Tree Distribution 2014: Mission Completed!

On December 22nd and 23rd, almost 14,000 toys were distributed from our warehouse center, after being collected and sorted by employees and volunteers. These toys went to 1700 families who otherwise would not have had much of a Christmas. This year, more than 4500 children got their Christmas presents from the Mesa Citadel Corps Angel Tree Program. Additionally, some families also received a turkey and other food. This took a lot of hard work from those involved, employees and volunteers alike, but it is always worth it when we see the smiling faces of the parents and guardians, knowing that their children will have something special this year. You may think that these volunteers were only adults, but children were also involved in helping with this whole process. Very special memories have been made for these families. Hour by hour, the gifts were sorted into their corresponding number and placed on shelves. Then, these gifts were distributed bag by bag, along with a Salvation Army WarCry. When the kids took breaks with their parents and had a snack, they shared that they had done what Jesus would have had them do: they loved others as they love themselves. May God use every gift to show His love for the families who received them, and also for those who gave them.
