Christmas Gift Applications Have Begun!

When people think of the Christmas season, particularly the giving of gifts, many of them think about the month of December. Others might think about Black Friday or even Thanksgiving. However, here at The Salvation Army, we have to begin thinking about Christmas around the months of June and July. You see, it takes a lot of time, effort, and many volunteers to help us as we assist families during the Christmas season. This year, on October 31st and November 1st, we had over a thousand people come to our Mesa Citadel Corps to apply for assistance in getting Christmas gifts for their children. We are blessed here to have wonderful employees, both in our Social Services department as well as in our Corps department who work long hours in preparation for this event so that it will go as smoothly as possible. However, there is no way that we could ever do this without the countless hours of time that our amazing volunteers give. From teenagers to retired seniors, and everyone in between, we have many people come alongside us and help out in any way that they are needed. We are so thankful to our volunteers and to our employees for all of their help, and we look forward to making sure that all of the families who applied for Christmas gifts for their children will indeed get those gifts. We also hope that they will know that The Salvation Army cares about them and that God loves them too!
