Mesa Corps Members Visit Seniors

Under the leadership of Major Marilyn Bawden (retired), over 50 Corps and community members joined together to take part in our Community Care Ministries. We broke up into several groups and piled into over 15 vehicles to distribute gifts to over 900 seniors in various facilities around Mesa. These gifts included a poinsettia, a December calendar with a beautiful picture, and a Salvation Army War Cry magazine. These seniors were thankful to welcome us as people from all ages came to visit them, encourage, and even pray with those who wanted prayer. We too were blessed to reach out to them. Many of these seniors are bed-ridden and a lot of them do not have frequent visitors, so it was very rewarding to be able to continue this Salvation Army tradition. We pray that they saw Jesus’ love in us. We are thankful for all of the employees who work in these facilities, especially as they supported and helped us successfully complete this ministry activity. When we bring kids to give out flowers to the residents, we saw smiles on people’s faces, and we believe that Jesus is smiling too.
